Pop Lock Nylon Hobo

Marc Jacobs’s Pretty Nylon tote bag has apparently been infringed by another designer, Christian Audigier, who came up with this:

The bags apparenly have similar lining and the “size, shape, color or color combinations, product design, texture, and selection and arrangement of materials and accessories” are said to have a pending trademark application by Jacobs, who is claiming that Audigier’s similar design bears very similar elements to his.

Jacobs has valid reasons. Take away the fish design in the second bag and both would look identical.

I just don’t understand the concept of placing the stones along the front only. Did they run out of stones? What happen to the notion of using big (in quantity) to make a bold statement? I feel like I want to use a lint roller to quickly roll off the unattractive stones from the bag’s surface. And if it can reduce the cost of making this bag, the tote is beautiful as it is without decorating with stones.
