Upon closer look, however, the Jenna Handbag from Mel Boteri, is so much more than just that. While the ribbon lends a certain “young” vibe to it, the handbag is made of golden lambskin leather, which makes it durable and long lasting. And it’s certainly not a little girl’s handbag.

They call this the Lady Gaga of handbags…but I don’t think it’s quite “there” yet. The design does stand-out. But more than anything, I think it stands out in a good way and not in a shocking way. Maybe it’s because the bag comes in a neutral shade, which somehow downplays the shock value.

The handbag is made of rich, crocodile leather. For an eccentric design, I think that it has made use of this leather quite well. The way the bag is engineered does seem to say, “Don’t take your eyes off me!” Its workmanship is its plus points.

If you’re wondering what it looks inside, this handbag comes with a removable inner pouch, which is made of soft lambskin. There is enough space, as you can probably tell and it seems bulky to carry around. But I guess this is the kind of bag you bring if you want to emphasize on the style factor, and not on functionality.

The Rive Ball comes in two other colors using two different materials —

• the Anaconda leather gives the bag this snakeskin finish
• the Calfskin leather gives it a smooth texture.

Pleats please! This Miu Miu Camel Pleated Patent Hinge Detail Tote reminds me of Nancy Gonzalez’s Crocodile Striped Tote that I had posted a couple of weeks ago (see pic at bottom). Pleats are a popular garment detail but when used on leather handbags, they create very interesting visual perception. When comparing this Miu Miu to Gonzalez’s tote you will notice that the different sizes of the pleats can create the different feelings. For me, the pleating on Gonzalez’s tote gives me a sense of femininity while Miu Miu’s pleats look like a whole bunch of wrinkles on a bag. Pleats aren’t difficult to sew but professional outcomes require precision. Still I think the over all look of the Miu Miu bag; ring details, hinges, and gold tone hardware are cohesive.
