All Aboard Ship Clutch from Kate Spade

The bag has to be roomy and functional, but at the same time, my friend didn’t want to sacrifice style for function. Luckily, there are plenty of bags like that these days, but I told her to check out this bag from Rebecca Minkoff, as I think it will fit her requirements perfectly.

It’s sturdy, it has a nice form, it comes in a basic color. But I also like that it looks classic. In terms of style, having a bag like this? You cannot go wrong.

The Jet Setter has so much space and compartments, but I love that this piece can be worn in plenty of ways, it’s really the kind of bag an active woman needs to own. This handbag is a winner!

Rebecca Minkoff’s The Jet Setter

I guess, Cambridge Satchel also thought it was time to update their famous handbag’s design with this limited release of the Cambridge Satchel with patterns.

I have to say that this really draws the line for me, as it looks almost so much like a grade schooler’s bag now. It would be hard to pair this off with something from my wardrobe, given that I’m thirty something.

This would be perfect as gifts to my nieces who are still in high school and college, though. These handbags are complete representations of the youth market.

The Cambridge Satchel Co. Patterned Handbags

Originally designed for something to unfold and carry while you’re on a holiday, the Longchampa handbag is really very handy. Because it can be folded up, you can squeeze this in your luggage and then unfold and use as a handbag when you’re checking sites, museums and attractions in another place.

Eventually though, it has evolved into a popular handbag for college students. Because you can basically throw in stuff inside the handbag offers lots of space a student or traveller needs.

Over the years, Longchamp has come up with different designs for their most popular Le Pliage collection. And this July, the brand has unveiled its latest for Christmas 2011.

Like I said, I’m no fan of Longchamp to begin with, despite knowing that yes, this seems likes a pretty handy bag. But I seriously doubt lots of people will find this Christmas 2011 design something to rave about either. Take a look at its design:

I showed this to a couple of friends and one of them said that it looks like a three year old can do better. The handbag’s too busy and really Christmasy…which is probably why it’s only best to carry this around during the holidays.

Along with this Christmas handbag, Longchamp has also released the Carousel:

This has a better design, but still, I’m no fan of the collection.

Longchamp Goes Overboard With Christmas Handbag

Nautically inspired handbags represent what playful summer is about — a time to relax at the beach, or go picnicking, swimming at the lake, or cruising on the yacht. It’s a time for celebrations like the 4th of July or Labor Day.

Nothing says “nautical” any more than a handbag with an image of a sailboat on it. And canvas seems to be a popular bag of choice for nautical handbags as well.

Overall, this is a really cute bag to have for this season. I just, however, that this comes in a bigger size so that you can put more stuff in it.

Two Fabulous Nautically Inspired Handbags

This is from Prada’s Fall 2011 Collection and most of the pieces are on the colorful side, which is quite refreshing considering fall/winter pieces are usually full of blacks, browns, grays and all those dull and grabby colors.

Prada does it best and mixes darker shades with lighter contrast and I’m really digging a lot of the designs from the latest fall collection:

The designs are a take on the “quasi-innocence” with a dash of retro flair and a spunk of quirky vibe. Some of the other designs in the collection are textured with python leather and glittered surfaces. But the pieces I like most are these plain and safe ones. These are truly classics.

Prada’s handbags also flow on the simple but elegant side and this new set seals it once again.

They truly are wonderful pieces with a style that’s very distinct. Ismachseven is a fusion of ideas from the East and West. All the bags have a certain Japanese-Indian or English-French touch, and the marriage of these cultures on the bag designs is just perfect.

The pieces look luxurious and the colors are vivid and out of the ordinary.

I’m gonna be on the look out for Ismachseven even more and dare I wonder which celebrity is going to come out toting one of these bags one day.

Bag Trends Spring 2011: Crazy Designs

Now, Minkoff, via her official Facebook page, has unveiled the collection which will be seen on the Ben Minkoff site. These bags will be made available by spring of this year.

The name of the collection, as well as its styles and design, is inspired by Rebecca’s grandfather. As you will notice most of the bags are military inspired since Ben (Rebecca’s grandpa) was a retired military official.

The collection boasts of functional styles that marries heritage and contemporary classic beauty. The bags and other items for men starts at $35 to $600.

I think these are great gift ideas for the men in your life. Or for yourself (if you are into men purses used by women, like I am!) Go check them out.

It’s not even Fall but bags that would look great for that season are already coming out and one of these bag is Gucci’s Heritage. It’s blue grey leather blends perfectly well with the mood and tone of the coming cold months. I like that this has no obvious logo prints on it though and the label only comes in that detachable ID tag.

Another one of Kate Spade’s classy purses. I really like they way they make their bags as it oozes with feminine charm and function.

The iconic pop star, Madonna, together with her daughter Lourdes, are coming out with a teen fashion collection which will be made available at Macy’s this August. Included in the collection is a line of bags that should be affordably priced between $12 to $40 and this is just one sample from that collection.

The bag line aren’t visually stunning but they are supposed to be trendy enough for the teen set.
