What handbag was that on The Carrie Diaries?

Yesterday’s premiere of the TV show “The Carrie Diaries” highlighted the purse that will become an iconic accessory to this new teen figure. On the show, Carrie turned her mother’s handbag into this widely speckled and colored piece, when the lead character painted nail polish over it. The bag was actually ruined and Carrie decided to improvise.

It turned out to be good though, because this is the result:

As for the actual bag itself, the black purse is said to be similar to the one Grace Kelly uses, according to the show’s costume designer, Eric Daman. “It’s sophisticated, but doesn’t scream ‘I am a designer bag!’ Splatter some paint on it and you have a personalized, dyed original.” You can read the interview here.

The originla is a Mark Cross Scottie Satchel which is still up for grabs at Barney’s. It also comes in red and orange, solidly bright colors that makes this bag a real standout.

Glazed, grained leather flap front satchel with gold-tone push lock closure, rolled top handle and detachable shoulder strap. Slip pocket at exterior back. Fabric lined, two compartment interior features two zip pockets and is separated by third folio style compartment. Leatherbound key included.

8″ height x 11.5″ width x 4″ depth
4.5″ handle drop, 18″ strap drop
